I'm just curious of others experiences. I've taught in the US and here in Korea. |

Five countries.
Hong Kong. Poland. Italy. The UK (part time work experience). South Korea. Oh, and I took my CELTA in the Czech Republic, so 6 including that.
Seoul has so far been one of the best experiences out of all them for me. |

Canada, Korea, Thailand, China and the Philippines but I checked "4" since your poll doesn't go any higher.
In each case it was from 1 year (Thailand, China and the Phils), 3 years in Canada and 7 as a teacher in Korea.

I lucked out and made some really good K-friends early on and it made it so easy to stay here... I didn't hit the "cultural wall" around the 6 month mark that so many run into ... and the culture shock issue was a non-issue for the same reason.
My only problem with Korea was and is the fact that there is no chance of gaining F5 status without getting married to a Korean (in spite of what you may read to the contrary).

Tom..can't you gain the F2 visa through the points system?
Just curious as I saw a debate on this topic somewhere else.
Oh and OP: I worked as a Teacher in 3 countries but lived in 6.

I jumped through their hoops for years and each time they found one more hoop to jump through. I was finally told my the officer at immigration that unless I was married to a Korean or had Korean kids there was NO CHANCE that I would ever be approved for permanent residence.
Just cause it is in the books doesn't mean it will happen anytime soon.

Let's see, Korea, Saudi Arabia, and Thailand.
With my current job with the US government in the following order:
Slovakia, Japan, Djibouti, Afghanistan, Georgia, and the US
That's a total of nine! In case you were wondering, Georgia was the best and Korea was the WORST!

Taught and lived in three countries - Thailand, China, Korea. Have fond memories of every place ...my friendships with the natives (esp. Koreans) have endured and are more meaningful than any of my so-called friendships with Westerners. |
