I know that this is not exactly job related but my school just informed me of this issue. I have been living in my apartment for nearly a year and I have recently signed on for another year at my school. On Monday I was informed by my "supervisor" that I had to pay management fees for my apartment, so no problem, 20k isn't a lot. The problem is that they also want me to pay it retrospectively for the past year(240k). As I was never told about it when I moved in, I feel that I shouldn't. In my opinion it is not my mistake and it is not written in the contract( it is alluded to but not stated), yesterday the "supervisor" came with copies of my new contract and my old contract with things underlined, the new contract does clarify that you are responsible for management fees in the e.g part, but the old one doesn't. It is not the money thing that has made me fight this, it is the principle of it. The school's administration office made a veiled threat that they will talk with the principal about it, so that is a little disearning but I am confident I am in the right. I work for GEPIK by the way, so any advice or opinions about this situation?.

Management fees are considered to be a "utility fee" here and yes, you are responsible for it, just like water (which is probably in your fee), common area costs, electric, etc.

Thanks for the advice, and I have no problems paying for it. I just wish that they had told me last year so it wouldn't have escatlated like this. I think I will fight it just to put my point across.

That happened to me last year...about 6 months after I moved in. I all of a sudden starting getting management fees that were like 200K. I was so annoyed/pissed, but then I looked at my contract and it did say I was responsible for them. Just wondering where they were for the first 6 months.
