I have seen some crappy maps in classrooms, but the one I saw today takes the cake.
Other than the obvious mistake of labelling 'East Sea', I found several more discrepancies.
It had a few major sites listed on the map. It had 'Babylon' or I guess the ruins of it, told to be in Egypt. Unless I am mistaken, Babylon is now present day Iraq. Though I am not 100% sure on that one.
It had Astana labelled as the capital of Kazahkstan. Correct me if I am wrong, but Almaty is the capital of Kazakhstan.
It then had some pointers for each continent. For example, Oceania had 1) Sydney Opera House 2) Ayers Rock, and 3) Kiwi Bird
Here is Asia:
1. Sarong: A traditional clothing item from Bali, Indonesia.
2. Taj Mahal
3. Dalai Lama's Temple
4. Byeolmaung (???) Something from China. I can't remember the spelling
5. Dokdo: A Korean island in the East Sea.
Yeah, I guess Dokdo is on the same level of importance as Taj Mahal, and even higher than Petra, Osaka Castle, and the Great Wall of China.
I have never seen a worse map than this one. It would be great if it wer eused to start a fire with, but other than that, I can't see a use for it. |

Okay I will bite. Why is east sea wrong? That is what it is called here. Sure I have a problem with making it the international name but that is what it is known as here. |

If they write 동해 in Korean or in Chinese, it's correct. But when they write 'East Sea' in English, it is incorrect.
