You need to get an international VISA card or the Samsung AMEX cards work with US iTunes account. I recommend "Alive4ever" pretty fun game and you can purchase with your Korean iTunes account. |
So let me see if I am getting this straight...
I have an iTunes account already for my iPod Touch, but if I get an iPhone, I need to make another account on iTunes that won't allow me to access the US iTunes store? I'm very confused about how this all works. Can I just use the apps I already have downloaded onto my computer and put them on the iPhone or will that not work? What about downloading podcasts? If someone could explain this to me like I'm a ten year old, or a 70 year old, that would be perfect. |

G Market is working with KT to sell phones at a discount to foreigners. You still have to set up an account with KT to use it here. |

Thanks! Sounds promising. It looks like you can prepay for the 16 and 32GB iPhones, then activate with KT (tho posts by stevohan in this thread suggest SKT is easier to deal with). Is there anything about the contracts being the standard 2-year ones tho (making one-year visa holders ineligible)? Or is it no commitment since you've paid for the iPhone already? |

I had an iPod Touch before I had an iPhone. I use the US store with a US credit card and everything from my iTouch was able to be transfered to my iPhone with zero problems.
You DON'T need to create another account, just register your iPhone to the same account. Better yet, when you plug in your phone for the first time it will ask if you want to load your saved info from your touch! |

1. Korea app store and US app store ARE different.
2. If you want to access US app store you need to create a US iTunes account.
3. If you want to access Korean app store you need to create a Korea iTunes account.
4. To buy apps on US iTunes you need US / International credit card
5. To buy apps on Korea iTunes you need Korean / Int. credit card
6. To get free apps on either you only need the account - you don't need to link up a credit card to make those accounts. |

I just got my iPhone today! Very exciting. However, I can't use the iTunes store on the phone. Will I have to download all the podcasts I like to my computer and the synch them to my iPhone every time? |

Can anyone recommend a store location to pay for the iPhone and get a 1-year contract? |
Anyone able to shed light? Or what the current options are for an E2 visa, including outright purchase?
Thanks so much. |

I walked into a Show store with my co-teacher to try to get an iPhone and walked out over an hour later with a headache and no iPhone. Since I have an E2 I could only get a one year contract and would need to prepay for a 16GB iPhone to the tune of 744,000won. With a one year contract you get a 5000won discount off the iPhone per month so 744,000 - (5000 x 12 = 600000 = 688,000 for the iPhone. (If I understood correctly, a two year contract meant paying 600,000 up front for the iPhone with 10,000 won off per month). I figured I'd sign up for a regular cellphone, get a Wibro Egg and for my iPod Touch and laptop and get an iPad or a new Macbook instead. |

The next generation of iPhone is most likely going to be released in the US in June. I don't know when it will be released in Korea (if ever!), but it might be worth holding out for 2-3 months until we know more about it. |

I haven't heard any rumors about a new model of iPhone releasing in June. OS 4.0 is slated to release around June (US /NA) however. |

The iPhone has been updated in June/July for the past three years. There is no reason not to expect an updated phone this summer to go with OS 4.0. As always with Apple they keep things close to their chest until just before they release the goods.
As for no rumors...

I just called KT, they told me I can get a 16gb iPhone on a 12 month plan for w100,000 or cheaper depending on the plan. I will go to a KT store today, to check it out and post here.
It sounds like they are clearing stock for the new model or sales have stalled and even foreigners are okay as customers now either that or the information is wrong, we shall see. |
