|
|
I have done some research and I keep coming across contradictory information. For my visa will I be able to send my original BA and MA certificates without a notarisation or apostille? Some sources say the originals are fine on their own, but others say they still need a notarisation and apostille. |

It also depends on which country you are from.
Canada doesn't apostille documents so all you need is the notarisation by a lawyer (etc) and I think by the Korean embassey in Canada.
If you are from the UK like me you have to get a lawyer to notarisation and then send it to the FCO to get it apostille.
I have also heard that sending the original degree is ok but I think it would be safer to get a notarisation and apostille. |

Thanks for that. I am in the UK so I will have to get them notarised and apostilled then. I worked out that it will cost me 90+ to get my documents apostilled (BA + MA + CRC) at the FCO. That seems pretty steep, but if it's necessary then it's necessary. |

I think it is. There are a couple of posts from people in the UK about this in the Job Discussion section as well if you need some extra info.
I just re-read what you wrote as well. Why you getting your MA done? You only need your BA? |

I figured if my MA is on my CV then I'd need to get that notarised/apostilled as well. Or will it just be fine to get the BA notarised/apostilled and then just send the MA as it is? I'd hate to be offered a job and then find out I have to prove my MA is genuine by getting it notarised/apostilled as well. |

What are the chances of getting them back? (I'm guessing slim to none) |

The original documents do NOT require an apostille.
If you are using copies they do need the apostille.
The only 2 documents that need the apostille are your BA and your CRC.
Your MA does NOT need an apostille.

The apositlle on your BA is for immigration not your employer.
Immigration does not care about your MA. It is not an immigration requirement.
Same with your CRC.

Yes I think we should all keep records of what it costs to get all of the requirements accomplished. |

The apostille is necessary only for Immigration, not the employer and the only qualification required by Immigration is a BA so it is a waste of money to pay for an apostille on your MA.
As far as I know (after 7 of the past 11 years being spent in Korea) your diploma does not need an apostille because it is an original. |

Since it isn't necessary to send the originals I wouldn't do it. Send the apostilled copies and bring the originals with you. If they want to see them then that's fine. |
