The Pride fighters (who easily could get away with using steroids and other performance enhancing drugs in Japan) tend not to be so legendary in UFC. I'm not sure if that's the case with Nogueira, though. He just seems to have gotten old and slow. Wanderlei, who had lost four of his last five fights, somehow managed to do enough in spurts to beat Brisping

Valasquez just fought smart, kept beating Nog to the punch, and packed enough power to knockout an old warrior who has probably taken too many shots to the head.

Bader displayed some mastery against Jardine - His students should call him "Master Bader" ...

I was really surprised with the Nog fight. He just looked run down and old. THe guy's best days are clearly behind him. Cain on the other hand fought well. He definitely didn't have any "pillow hands" this fight.

Henderson vs. Shields was made official for the April Strikeforce card. I think Mousasi vs. King Mo is on there as well. Fedor just said that he won't fight Werdum in April so the fight is off until May. I wonder if they'll postpone the rest of the April card until then as well.

I still can't believe he's younger than A. Silva.

Rumour is that Nog lies about his age.

What is going on with MMA lately?

How many of you called any of the following correctly:
- BJ vs Edgar
- Aoki vs Melendez
- Hendo vs Shields
- King Mo vs Mousasi

What labels would you apply to each fighter in these matches? Exposed? Aging? Arrogant? Underrated? Overrated?

BJ was in strong contention as one of the best P4P fighters in the world right up until his co-main event at 112. Aoki had absolutely nothing for Melendez. I think Hendo had serious back issues. To me, it almost seemed like Mousasi overlooked Mo and didn't train properly or take advantage of his superior striking. He needs some serious work on his TDD.

I also think Anderson needs to see a shrink. I love Chael (R), but if they're gonna fight, I think it's gonna be an absolute snoozefest.

so much has happened in MMA in the last month or so. I know BJ is a great fighter, and I really thought the only guys to beat him would be big strong wrestlers, like possibly maynard... I would never have guessed in a million years Edgar had a shot. Although I will say that BJ won that fight according to my judging. But then again, im not a crappy boxing judge who gave Edgar 50-45. That in my opinion is ridiculous. I dont even like BJ but I couldnt believe it happened. When I heard 50-45 followed by 2 other scores and the words "unanimous decision", I knew it had to be BJ cause there is no way Edgar won all 5 rounds... but crazier things have happened

Everyone seems really impressed with Shields all of a sudden. He did show heart and an ability to take hard hits... but I dont think he really made a statement with Hendo. All he did was takedown and control hendo. A great feat, but people are claiming he's the next big thing... I think he's far from it.

I was shocked about Mousasi. I know he can fight better. I think he was really tentative with his striking because he was scared about Mo taking him down. I wish he let his hands go a little bit more, but I guess he'll learn for next time.

With all these crazy upsets lately... the craziest thing was still the end of the strikeforce event where Melendez and the Diaz brothers beat the crap out of Miller. Did you see Diaz throwing soccer kicks? The road for MMA to come to Ontario/New York just got a lot longer....
