Why not just serve it with a glass of mayonnaise?

600 calories...the breading on the chicken replaces the bun...i'd say this isn't much worse than the "zinger choice set" in korea that comes with the fried chicken sandwich and a drumstick. it might actually be better than that because you're skipping out on the empty nutrients of the bun.

You know, it's funny. If KFC were to have sold a sandwich that was exactly identical to this one, except for on a bun, it wouldn't have been newsworthy at all. None the less, the hypothetical "Double Down With a Bun" would have had more calories.

I'm not saying this sandwich is particularly healthy, but fast food isn't a healthy industry period, and this is hardly the least healthy thing on the market.

Bingo. If you just ate this, it would spike your blood sugar far less than a big mac fries and coke would.

This guy has a pretty good take on it.

BBQ, Nene, Jang Mo Nim and Hot Sun Chickens are all superior fried chicken options to KFC. KFC delivers on the burger front though. Except there is no original colonel's choice burgers at my local K- Fry. Good one Korea. Rolling Eyes

I think it's just the thought of 2 pieces of fried chicken with bacon and cheese in the middle. I have a hard time believing that only has 600 calories. They have to be underestimating.

The bun of the burger exists primarily for handling purposes.
Now I'm supposed to take a grip of two greasy pieces of hot chicken?
This burger better come with several wet naps.

I'll take an asiago roast beef sandwich any day. Maybe a half sandwich with french onion soup.

OK, THIS I agree with. It's not that the "sandwich" is unhealthy - it's just obscene. It's no longer finger food. Why not just order a piece of chicken breast with bacon and cheese melted on top of it and serve it with a knife and fork? No one would be crying about health issues then.

Why? How many calories do you think a big mac has? (two ground beef patties, three buns, cheese, "special mayo sauce")

I was under the impression that it came served with that white half-sleeve thing specifically so it could be handled using that. The benefit, I imagine, would be that you could still eat it on the go, instead of having to sit at a table and use a fork and a knife. Lots of people eat fast food specifically for the convenience, after all.

+1

I never understood why KFC is so popular. In Korea, it costs twice as much as Popeyes or any other fried chicken and tastes considerably worse. In the states, I forget how much it costs, but the chicken at any supermarket deli beats it hands down.

Yeah, it does come wrapped in paper. But I still think it's obscene. Why do we have to eat everything "on the go?" Hell, I should start marketing tonkatsu in Korea and japan, wrapped in a paper sleeve so people can eat it while walking/driving/stinking up the subway.

BTW I'd be one of the first to eat a double down if it came to Korea. Why not?
