|
|
I have a friend of a friend who is travelling in Korea and was supposed to go home to London but due to the volcano in Iceland is stuck and may be stuck for a while.
Anyone know of places where people stranded can stay that is cheaper than a Yeogwan but offers more privacy than a Sauna? If someone has the space for a roommate for a couple weeks make an offer and I'll pass it along.
Any help will be appreciated. |

| Buy a 50,000 won tent and a 60,000 won plane ticket to Jeju. It was 20 C yesterday and the overnight lows are in the 12-15 C range. Camp out as one hikes the Olle trails around the island. Or bring a good book and chill out on the side of Halla. Eat Korean food. This plan is cheap all things considered and a distinctive experience worthy of anyone who calls themself a traveller. |

Hi There,
Jeju actually sounds pretty fun.
When I think about it the situation is not so good because the only other thing I would be able to suggest is going into Seoul which will take a lot of won over time but is an hour away by bus.
I think a major issue would be not having a phone this could be taken care of in itaewon for about $35 including $10 credit. I made an earlier post about the shop.
I am not in Seoul but I hope someone offers. |

They should ask their embassy for help, these kind of situations are what they are for.
Personally I would go into Seoul during the day, see free museums if I was broke, then go back and sleep at the airport. Its nicer than a bunch I have slept in, and checking in with the airline staff often can't hurt your chances of being on the first flight out. I have heard the airport is providing some meals to stranded travelers also.
But if they can't stand the airport there are ok hostels in Seoul with beds for 10,000 won a night - hostelworld.com has a bunch, and you generally get free internet and coffee/tea/sometimes toast. |
