|
|
I have been lurking around here awhile trying to learn the ins and outs of getting a good job in Korea. I finally decided to pull the trigger on applying, and I have been gathering my documents to apply in the fall. I was very specific when I requested my transcripts from my university, but all I got was a generic, "Official Transcript, Do not accept if seal is broken", across the envelope seal. Will this work for immigration, or do I need to complain to the Registrar's Office and try to get ones with an official school seal or the Registrar's stamped signature? Pics can be seen here:

Any advice for a newbie would be appreciated. |

I could be wrong, but from what I have read you need an official university stamp or signature. The generic stamp looks like it could have been done by anyone. |

Im pretty much at the same point in the process as you are, wjf1. I am using a recruiter and I was told to have my university send my transcripts directly to them. So depending on how you are applying for position it might be different. Hope this helps.

exactly right.
I don't understand why the OP's school didn't automatically do this. everytime I've ordered transcripts staff at the registrars office have signed across the seal over top of the "official transcript" stamp, this should be an automatic regardless of who they are sending it to.
Odds are it won't matter, so long as you can get your degree notorised any transcripts you send in with will likely go without scrutiny. |

The University seal is on the actual transcript. My sealed envelopes have always had that similar generic stamp and a signature across the seal. I have never had a problem. |

I think the only thing you're missing is a scribbled signature across the seal... because for EPIK this renders the document contained inside inviolable and impossible to forge.
It's really not a big deal, I'm sure. They'd have to be frakking paranoid to think you had bought a seal to use on your fraudulently (and expertly) altered transcript.
Maybe include a declaration with all your documents that you haven't opened the envelope. That'd have some legal force in itself. Or ask the college to do that little scribble. |
