| The FTA issue has a deep strategic significance for both Japan and South Korea in this era of drastic change in the international environment. Im referring to reform of global governance, the relative decline of the United States, the rise of China and the crisis facing the North Korean regime. |
I think both Korea and Japan would be foolish to view the United States 'in decline'. Despite the last three decades of catastrophe-mongering, the US share of GDP hasn't changed a percentage point since 1976. Japan needs to worry about Korea going further into China's sphere and being hung out to dry in the next decade, and Korea needs to choose which sphere it will be the most junior partner in.

At least they didn't spell it 'kimuchi' |

This is just a move by the globalist leaders of both of these countries to further consolidate their economies into the regional economic (Asian) 'zone', similar to the EU and North American Union. In order to do this, economic (and by extension, political) treaties need to be signed that erode the sovereignty of each nation (step by step, incrementally), so that they will be subsumed into the region. "Free trade" is simply a front for the central banking systems to consolidate themselves along side others, and eventually be morph into a regional central bank (like the EU). In fact there is no real free trade (which would imply free market capitalism), since both nations are perpetually indebted and dependent on infinite central bank credit to stay afloat. Only the elite will benefit.
The spin is that Japan and Korea are signing a free trade agreement as sovereign, independent nations, when in fact their leaders are both just furthering the globalist agenda. |

| And thus the KORUS-FTA's goal of opening up Japan looks as it will prove a success, at least for Korea. |

Korea-Japan FTA will get settled only AFTER Dokdo is settled.
In other words... don't hold your breath on that. Right now alot of political grandstanding will occur prior to elections. And even if by some reason, the deal is agreed up, the FTA would have to pass congress in both countries to get ratified. I just don't see that happening. |
