Honestly, how many times have people on here given out the golden advice about not working at Wonderland? Yet people still ask, seemingly disbelieving or of the opinion people on here are just scaremongering. There must be hundreds of threads on Wonderland if people bother to try and find them. No doubt, internet search engines also show up many hits.

Dave should put it in the user terms and conditions that anyone asking the, 'Should I work at Wonderland?' or 'I heard a few bad things about Wonderland but ...' questions immediately agrees to sell their soul to Wonderland for two years with no escape or release clauses. Shame it would be virtually impossible to legally enforce but that is not the point.

Anyway, who was it on here that used to write the story about would you board a plane if you knew X, Y and Z and then linked it to Wonderland? That was always a good one...

I heard from a few people that it was a bad place, but you can't believe everything on the Internet... Go for it! And if it turns out bad it's because you're culturally insensative Razz

Because Wonderland advertises through this board. It would be bad for business to have a thread devoted to bashing one of your customers.

Not to stir the pot, but the general consensus on Wonderland is that they are the old-school meat-grinder hakwon, grinding through teachers and generally ruining their impression of Korea. We ought to be asking Dave why he isn't getting rid of them as an advertiser, and expand ad space for other successful yet not controversial chains like Pagoda, CDI, YBM, and POLY? Wink

The OP inspires an idea whereupon someone with more time and tech savvy can blog word clouds from these forums by topic. "In threads that had the word 'Wonderland' in them, the following words appeared most frequently...."

I wouldn't really blame Dave for favoring Wonderland over his teachers in Korea forum. His first responsibility is to his shareholders (himself and his family). If those other chains want to buy ad space at the going rate, they're free to do so. He isn't running a charity. Just my 50won.

If Wonderland is so bad...I thinkt he more threads on it the better. A sticky may provide useful, but then Dave's ESL Cafe might be looking at some lawsuits.
Get the word out about unscrupulous hagwons any way you can!!!

Please keep in mind that the search function doesn't always work, so people can't always find old posts about Wonderland.

I met a young newbie the other week. He said he liked Korea, but his job wasn't going very well and he really wished he could change schools.

"What school do you work for."

"Wonderland."

"Oh I'm so sorry."

Use this: http://www.google.com/cse/home?cx=006359271486458796786%3A_ooozypbm6u

Honestly, I can't remember how many times I've linked that. Mods should really make it a sticky <-- I can't remember how many times I've said, "Mods should really make it a sticky" <-- Pretty soon it'll be "I can't remember how many times I've said, 'I can't remember how many times I've said, "Mods should really make it a sticky'."

The mods/Dave have some kind of vested interest in keeping the search function as is. I have no idea what their motives could be, but I'm 100% sure they could have found a remedy in the 7 or so years that it has been a problem.

Laughing That must be it. I always imagine Dave sitting on a beach sipping a cocktail just raking in the cash.
