|
|
Hi,
I'd like to download some YouTube vids to use in a PPT lesson.
I've tried downloading Tooble, but it won't work (it will install, then it won't work).
I've tried going to savevid.com, but my school's computer won't let me.
What can I do? Do I have any recourse? |

There are a heap of plugins for the firefox browser. I think the one I use is called "1-Click Youtube Video Downloader". It works quite well for me. |

What format does it download them in? FLV files are kind of a pain in the ass. 1-Click converts them to MP4. |

Either Mp4 or FLV. There are other options too... and links to other conversion sites. |

Keepvid.com
Has a javascript link that you can bookmark or set as a shortcut on your toolbar so that it automagically feeds the address to their thingajig and pops up a bunch of links so as what to download the videomawhosits as flv, mp4, or some other format I forget. And it also lets you pick that there resolution in whatever size you so want if it's available-like. |

Yep, Senior, you beat me to the punch. That's my video saver. After installing it, you will see little links, "flv, mp4, and such" under the video on any Youtube video page to click on and you easily download and save them. Works like a charm. MP4 is high quality for my jams, but .flv works good for children's videos. No more embarrassing moments in class waiting on videos to load. Too bad my co won't take this simple piece of advice from me. She'll just keep monkeying around with video pauses in her supplementary vids and then blame me that I'm not doing a good job for it. |

Simple things well outlined.
However, IF you can't download a video the solution is simple. Just preview it before class and let it play. It will store in your temp files and then stream without a problem. A handy thing and something I've used from time to time.
