I'm going to be traveling to Taipei and Tokyo later on in the year. I'm interested in purchasing better "walk-around" camera lenses - specifically the EF series for a Canon Digital Rebel DSLR. I'd also like high-quality headphones - specifically Shure SE530 or Bose Quiet Comfort.
Which city would be better for getting a great deal on these items: Seoul, Tokyo, or Taipei? |

you will pay a premium in Tokyo, but everything there is cutting edge. I don't know about taipei. Seoul (to me) has decent prices and good selections |

Re.: paying premium for cutting edge electronics in Tokyo
(for example, buying the Shure SE530 earbuds/headphones) Do you mean that the same product will have varying differences (excluding price and currency exchange rates) if purchased in Seoul or Taipei or Tokyo; therefore one will pay more in Tokyo? |

I'd have more peace of mind buying a lens from a camera store in Tokyo than I would in Taipei. Don't forget about the warranty which may not be valid outside the country of purchase. If you want a better idea of prices in Tokyo, take a look at amazon.co.jp or yodobashi.com. Last time I looked, prices in US and Japan vary depending on the lens. |
