Can you use a Korean language system, or do you need English? |

I highly recommend getting a Korean model, and NOT buying an English one.
I bought the expensive Daewoo English GPS two years ago, and over the course of owning it, I've had to take it in for repair four times. Software crashes, power supply cable was cutting out intermittently, etc etc.
If you have an iphone, just get the $50 GPS software, so far it's working much better than my English GPS unit, at a fraction of the price. |

eamo: English would be nice, but I can handle a Korean one no worries.
senditthemail: How much is your iphone costing you in comparison to your gps? Seems like the iphone would be the expensive way to go. |

i'm interested as well on how the iphone GPS works. How much data would it use on a 3-4 hour drive? Or does it even use up your data? |

The Apple website says it has GPS. I guess that means it has a GPS receiver. So, that shouldn't use data.

Google's turn by turn navigation is meant to be coming soon. There are also navi apps with varying reviews. I believe the best one is the Tom Tom app which costs around $50. There are also adequate, but not great, ones starting at 99c.
If it were me, I would get an iPhone over a dedicated GPS unit. Although the next three or four months, maybe even up till the end of the year, will be the worst time to buy a smart phone. With a billion new models and OSs coming out. |

Got a Finedrive iQ500 for 280,ooo online.
It's pretty excellent. 4Gb and I have mp3's and mp4's on it. It also has weather updates, DMB TV, TPEG-changes routes if there are traffic jams, and it can go to an address from a phone number.
My version is called Oilsave, as it collects data from the fuel stations within a specified radius and then you can go to the cheapest. With a full tank, a saving of 100원/litre can be as much as 4/5,ooo 원. |

For those wondering, the GPS program I downloaded for my i-phone doesn't use data, it uses the built in transponder, so it doesn't cost extra to use. So for about $45 USD, the software is a good alternative to buying a GPS unit (if you already have an i-phone). The maps have several different views , including 3D, and you can use it in portrait or landscape view. |

I'm looking to buy a GPS unit but would like to take it back to Canada when I return in a year and a half. Is this possible? Will I be able to put a Canadian map on it? Korean or English is fine though English would be easier to use. |
