I am being considered for a job at Chungdahm Institute. It might be good, or bad. I want info, good or bad about teachers who've taught there.
If you reply, would it be okay for me to ask you more questions, and discuss the school FURTHER?. They are offering more than one option, and I am told I could earn 3000 000 won monthly, if I teach 30 hours a week. I am an experienced teacher from the U.K.
I am trying to decide whether to go back to Japan where I worked for a year, and learned a lot of Japanese, and did a lot of sport. Or should I go to Korea, where I might save more money, but fewer holidays.
I was told I could work in Seoul with Chungdahm. That would be good. |
How about using the "SEARCH" function????
I'm sure you'll get much more information that adding yet ANOTHER CDI post. |

I work for CDI. I work for a franchise. The franchise is a well run business, but it is business. So if you come here and think that this is some kind of working vacation then your are screwed. Stay at home and work at Burger King. They will pick up on that you are not interested in your job, and you will have a major headache. They have enough immature fools running around the school which are not on the payroll. On the other hand if you treat it as a job then you will be fine. Most jobs in the US are 40 hrs a week. All that being said I work for a great franchise and the owner is good to us. So enter at your own risk. |

|
|
Hello,
My name is Dee and I am a newbie to Daves. *everyone say "Hello Dee." ---my humor rarely translates well to type (or other people) -.-
Anyway....
I was just hired for the Jamsil branch of Chungdahm. I will be working at a company owned school but I had no choice of monthly --- was given the standard hourly. So I have to pay for my own housing which according to the recruiter is about 600,000 W a month.
Website http://www.teachinkorea.com/community/Faq.aspx?cate=3 says: "Our Human Resources team will show you apartments and discuss options with you." I asked my recruiter and he said I will have to pay a 250,000 W fee for apartment search. javascript:emoticon(' ')
Is anyone else starting about this time and we could be roommates???
I was already here in Korea when hired so they wont pay for flight here [which I understand, sort of] but I have to come up with the money for my visa run to Japan T.T
I am hoping for the best though. I enjoyed teaching adults but HATED the split shift [6am is too early for anything to be awake in my movie kkkk].
I'm hoping the training/their 'system' (as I've read on other post here) will reduce my prep time
Please message me if you are also starting at Jamsil or have worked there. I would like any advice (especially more current than many of the 1996 posts!
cheers
