Hey hey cats and kids...

Was down in Itaewon this afternoon and thought I would poke me head into the taco bell preparing to be crushed at the lack of progress...

When low and behold I saw workers! People actually working on that glorious soon to be feasting place of bad food that tastes ohhh sooo goood...

Looks like they had stripped out the interior of the bottom floor down to the bare concrete and had people on the 2nd floor doing the same...

Hazza for progress!

They could very well be open for business tomorrow!

I'm joking of course, it will take them at least two days to be operational.

They must not realize what a gold mine they are sitting on. They will probably have like 3 staff working the first weekend. I'm going to get there right at opening time to avoid the crush. Opening time....still just a distant dream.

I saw two turkish-looking guys on the subway at Samgakji on Sunday, both of them clutching supersized taco bell cokes. I was tempted to go and take a look, glad to see I didn't waste my time Smile

Is this the first Taco Bell to open in Asia?

I too believe it's a gold mine and they are taking longer than necessary to put such a golden cash cow into place. I wonder how much money it cost to be the franchisee? It's like $250,000 to put on up in the states plus you need more for operating cash flow solvency and the ability to expand should demand be high. I always wanted to be an investor or self employed, but always had so little money where I've never even paid income taxes due to fallng below poverty line.

That store here in Korea seems a bit on the small side, but probably costed about $1,000,000 to put into operation. I expect prices to be 2.5X to 3X of that typically charged in American Taco Bells. Maybe they are being slow for investor financing reasons?

No way, man. It'll be the same price as home, give or take a little. All fast food here is priced the same as home, why would this be any different?

Naw, there used to be Taco Bells in Seoul and they also failed in China and Singapore. They were ahead of their time, perhaps.

You are so right...I bet it takes an hour to get a taco and it will be all messed up since they are all stressed out and it is everybody's first day.

Nah i expect things to go smoothly. A lot of foreign franchises have now learned from past mistakes - they can't come into Korea lightly. I'm sure they will have not only thought of this one opening but you'll see other locations open up very quickly. Usually these kind of deals involve multiple store openings.

they will open on a monday probably... give them time for the mad rush drunkards who will be in there 3am....

the prices will be higher than back home, because the rent and material costs will be more here.. you can expect to pay 4 dollars a taco here..

Id be surprised if they open more stores around korea. there plan is to sell to foreigners...

If it's 4 bucks a taco, I'll cross the street and pay 7 for a nice burrito.

Disgusting that we'd feed our pets Taco Bell quality meat!!

Just kidding. I've actually never had one of these 'oh so amazing' tacos. So I don't know. But they better be good, since ya'll seem so keen on them.

They arent. But they're (usually) cheap. It also tastes 100x better when you're drunk.
