I'm talking about the Sriracha sauce that one finds in the bottle with a rooster on it in the US (Huy Fong foods, I think). I haven't seen it here in Korea. I have, however, seen another sauce (at least one) labeled as Sriracha, at Homeplus.
Has anyone tried one of these sauces, or know where I can get the 'real' stuff? How were they? |

There are several brands in the US with that name, but they don't all taste the same. The Huy Fong with the chili seeds intact tastes even better than their homogenized version. |

All I've seen is the Suree Sriracha sauce, which is what I use. Found it at Kim's Club. It does the trick, especially in some bulgogi or mixed in some tuna to give it a kick. I haven't seen the one with the actual seeds in it out here. |

I posted about this last year. Though I looked at every black market and foreign food section I went to, I never did find the rooster sauce. I can't eat pho without it! |

I use the Suree Sriracha too (Dept Store). It's not quite the same as the Rooster.I almost want to say there's something slightly bitter in the Suree version - I can't put my finger on it, but it does the trick. |

I know what you mean about the stuff with the seeds, but that's not what I mean. I mean the stuff in the squeeze bottle with the green cap. But it sounds like it's not here. I'll give the Suree a shot. |

Kim's Club near Express Bus Terminal (Seocho-gu) has it. |

That is also Suree brand. Suree comes in a glass bottle and in a squeeze bottle. It still isn't the same. |

This is my plan as well.
I shopped for weeks and never found the rooster sauce. Pho tastes like dishwater without it to me. But with it, it is heavenly. |

I've looked for months, even online, and the only place I found it was in Itaewon.
Small shops in Itaewon have it. It's about 7000W and is slightly smaller than the US bottle. |

Hyundai Department Store bottom floor, at COEX / Samseong Stn.
Doesn't have the Rooster but has the same type of bottle, and green cap. Been using it for months now and tastes exactly the same - maybe not quite as spicy but that's ok. |

I can totally taste the difference between the Suree and the real Sriracha with the rooster picture on it and although the Suree brand does the job, it definitely does not taste as good. |

I found rooster sauce this week at the foreign food shop in Itaewon. Not the main one near Hooker hill, but the second, smaller on that says Call Center in the road with all of the African shops. It cost 7,500 won. |
