I was thinking of heading up to Daegu to watch Korea v Japan in the rugby this weekend. Does anyone know where the Gyeonsang stadium is and how i would get there from Daegu/Dong Daegu train station?

many thanks

The korean rugby union website says Jingshan Rugby Stadium - maybe that's the same place?

Here are the directions as posted on Facebook. Do a search for "South Korea v Japan - Test Match Rugby"

HOW TO GET THERE:

Daegu Subway Line 2(green line) ends at Sawol on the edge of Gyeongsan, take Exit 3 and hail a cab which will take between 5-10min depending on traffic to the stadium, not far at all.

The stadium is advertised as Gyeongsan Rugby Stadium, but cabbies may not understand this. It is located across from Gyeongsan Elementary School (경산초등학교/Gyeongsan Cho-doong hakyo) or maybe a better landmark is 경산시실내채육관/Gyeongsan-shi shilnae chae-yook-gwan, which is the sports centre next to the stadium.

Here's a map:

It's not technically in Daegu? Where are you coming from? If your coming from another city then use the train or bus. The stadium is not very far from either.

If coming from Daegu ride the subway out to Sawol on the green line. take a cab to Gyeongsan. The cabbies might give you a silly price like 10,000. I wouldn't go to the stadium for more than 7maybe 8.

travelnguy are you in Gyeongsan? It's not really across from Gyeongsan Elementary. The map is missing just a little. When you pull up the google map the green arrow is on the stadium. But the red arrow is off some. Go to the green arrow and you will find the stadium.

This map will help with the buses better:

You wanna go to Gyeongsan Station. The stadium is in another town. It's not in Daegu. You can take a direct train from Changwon to Gyeongsan. Coming from the south or Busan it's the stop right before Dongdaegu cost about 5,000. The ride to the stadium should be no more than 5,000 and that's being caught at every light and that's still expensive.

Korea v Japan Match Venue Details
Venue: Gyeongsan Sports Complex (Rugby Field)

KO Time: 2PM

How to get there (from Seoul):
It's a small city next to Daegu so...

1) Option 1: KTX from Seoul Station to East Daegu Station (1 hour and 40 minutes)- Take
a taxi to Gyeongsan Sports Park (15-25 min, 10 - 12,000won)

2) Option 2: Saemaul or Mugunghwa train from Seoul to Gyeongsan Station (3 hours 40 minutes) - Take a taxi to Gyeongsan Sports Park (less than 10 minutes)

3) Option 3: KTX from Seoul Station to East Daegu Station (1 hour and 40 minutes)- Transfer to Saemaul or Mugunghwa train to Gyeongsan Station (10 minutes, 4,700won)- Take a taxi to Gyeongsan Sports Park (less than 10 minutes)

Yep that should get you there.

The KTX to DongDaegu and then transfer is the best bet. A taxis are usually ok but I've had these guys quote 20,000 on a 12,000 metered ride.

Plus the Daegu taxi driver's aren't always familiar with Gyeongsan. They might know how to get there but don't know how to get to anything.

A few people from Gyeongsan are going hope to see you there.

Just a thought. If you are taking the subway to Sawol. Go out exit three and walk straight (east) about 300 meters. It will put you right in front of Gyeongsan Emart. Catch a taxi there.

If you catch one at Sawol station you are still technically in Daegu. Hence they will throw an extra 5,000W on your bill. By going to Emart you are in Gyeongsan and the price is only the fare you see.

Yea, when they cross the city line they will hit a button on the meter and the fair will go up. Also, some of them will try to tell you they need an extra 20% of the meter. It's a lie. From sawol to my place which is about a mile and a half from the stadium the taxi drivers will quote 5,000. There is one guy who will always ask for 8,000. I just get in another taxi, even if he is the first is line. He seems baffled every time I say no.
