Folks, what is there to do on the Han river? Do they have things like a 'booze cruise' or a 'sunset cruise' or stuff like that ? |

They've got a few different ones, there's been one running called the 'blossom cruise' which is basically a boat with lots of flowers on it, I think there is a dinner cruise too and maybe one with live music/performances. I did a standard one-way cruise from Yeouido-Jamsil a couple of weekends back, it was OK but scenery isn't great, just lots of bridges and apartments.
Head to Yeoinaru station and then walk to the dock, they have a timetable there. I think it changes daily depending on demand/weather. |

There are 1 hour cruises everyday and start from different points, Jamsil and Yeouinaru being the 2 main ones. It's about 10,000 KRW. Bring your own beer, they stopped selling it on the boat.
The Yeouinaru/Yeouido part area has recently been redone. Get drunk and go swimming. |

The standard Han River cruise you hear about is a rip off, expensive (US $10) and doesn't even go very far. Don't bother taking it. Otherwise all the museums and everything else I went to see in Seoul were great.
If you ever go to Thailand, you can take the Chou Phraya River public transit boat for about 1 US dollar and it is awesome, it goes a long waysd and has really nice scenery |

on a nice day, It's a great little trip. It is definitely a different viewpoint of the city from the river and 10 is not that much money, let's be honest. |

I did this last summer and it was a good time. We planned on starting at Yeouido then getting off at Jamsil to party in Sincheon. However, we got there too late and had to settle with the Yeouido cruise up the river and back. Get there early, drink and eat some squid at the park across from the 63 Building, shoot off some fireworks, then hop on the boat. Like one user said, BYOB. I'll be doing it again this summer.
On a side note, if you are complaining about $10 you're a cheap @ss, Clinton. Also, how could you compare the Thai water taxi to the Han cruise? Apples and oranges, brother. The OP is asking about Korea, not Thailand. Nice segue into your personal travel history. |

I went during the winter time and to be honest, the scenery wasn't bad at all. Especially coming from Los Angeles where the only "river" we have is actually a big storm drain, it was quite nice. If you go at night time, the Yeouido one actually stops at a bridge where they have a light/water show for several minutes. It's well done and you can get pretty soaked if you're willing. |
