I was offered a job with a business english school who called on Wednesday and wanted me there on the weekend. I did not havea work visa but they said I could come and work and apply for the visa while in Korea. It ended up that they did not take me after all, saying my age was a factor. But my question is, can one apply for a work visa when already working in Korea, or would that pose a problem for me. I do not want to do this and then jeopardize any future work offers if this is illegal. |

IF you are on a tourist entry stamp it is not only illegal but unless you have held a prior E2 it may be difficult to impossible to get an E2 without going to your home country for a consular interview.
IF you are here on an "F2/4/5" visa then you don't have to worry.
IF you are here on any other class of visa you MAY be able to change your status while in the country.
