How did it go for you? Any problems? I moved to a new city in the same province mid contract. I usually always had the new contract in hand about 2 months before the end of the current term, but now am only going to be offered one two weeks before the end of the term. Seems suspicious to me. Also, seems to be more criteria and evaluations than in the past. Any of you experience problems or be non renewed. I do more than one school, so traditionally didn't have to have one coteacher be my handler or boss before. I've read some horror stories about that. I also renew in the middle of the semester. Are there a lot of non renewals? Just wondering if the influx of newbies is changing the attitudes of Koreans towards us? I will prob be renewed but seems more of a nail biter than in the past. I do know from experience and observation that if someone high up doesn't like you or complains, they'll tell the teacher or person to simply mark you down on evaluations. As I said, I will prob be renewed as I am quite popular with my students and do actually teach. But, seems the recession has turned the world upside down and that you can't count on the same things as you would in the past. |

Hopefully, it'll work out. You sound like it'll be fine. But times have changed. Oh well, two years from now when there's a shortage of teachers again.....revenge will be sweet. We'll remember and it'll be a great time to heap abuse upon our bosses. WHen there's no one waiting to replace us. They'll have to kiss our butts again. Yep, just bide your time all..... |

Will things ever go back to how they were though?
Increased technology in advertising sophistication (such as google ads) is what is flooding the market IMO. The more people know about jobs offered in Korea (and a year or two ago many, many people were not aware that such an option existed), the more people will come.
Technology is only going to make advertising cheaper, more effective, and more prevalent with each passing year. |
