| did everyone who is taking a benzo simply show them your prescription and pass? or did you still have to take a second more expensive test? i'm assuming experiences may vary.... i have my test soon and my school won't be happy if i have to take a second test, especially if it costs more money. |

Xanax will be out of your system in 5 days. I checked with my best friend in medical school and she checked with her professor. If you fail, you can take it again. Bring paper copies of your prescriptions, and say "Oh sorry. I didn't know." You'll be fine.
BTW, it's prescribed for sleep here, as well as anxiety. If you're taking it for anxiety, I recommend telling your doctor that you need it for sleep. It looks much better on your record. Korea seems to frown on any type of disorder, even when it's easily remedied with a simple medication and some yoga. |

So with a prescription and "Oh sorry. I didn't know." I'll be okay?
Ideally I'd like to do what you said and just get it out of my system but I take a longer acting benzo called Klonopin which can linger around for 10 days according to my doctor back home. That's a long time especially in a stressful working environment, not to mention withdrawal.

I took my last dose of xanax the night before, was called at 7:30 in the morning to tell me I had to get my renweal medical the same day (which was good, because 15 minutes later and I'd have had breakfast, and would have had to fast for 8 hours during work, rather than just getting it done early in the morning). I brought my prescription paper and said that it may show up, but the prescription was written by that very hospital.
I passed. I don't think that that particular drug shows up on the standard urine screen.
My friend, however, came on a medication and hadn't written it down (this was for his FIRST medical, from the US) on the application, because it's a red flag. He was already here, and when they gave him his positive result, he said "Oh yeah! I have this sleep medication I sometimes take." He gave them the prescription form, they gave him another test (this one was more detailed, and he did have to pay for it) and he passed.
10 days is a long time. Puppy therapy perhaps? When I took my test, I was worried I might have failed, so the entire week after I went without my medication, in case I had to retest when I got my results. I felt like I worked in DisneyLand, fake smiling. Boy was I relieved when I passed and could be sans stress again!

I think I said before on this thread I took a blue (1mg) two hours before the test and I passed. I don't think this is something they test for. |

I must have missed it. I was relieved, but that week without was hellish! |

I've had extreme anxiety ever since I can remember and I'm prescribed an SSRI (Celexa) for daily use, 2 benzos, a 0.5 Clonazepam for mild anxiety situations and I also have a 1.0 Xanex for extreme situations.
Lots of people say Benzos are highly addictive and it's Hell getting off and I agree with that if they are used everyday or even worse abused. I have never had a problem with withdrawls or a feeling that I have to have it. I regulate myself and take only when I have hightened sense of anxiety. I do not take my benzos on saturdays or sundays unless I have to because of some special circumstances. If taken everyday your body will become very tolerent of them and it will require a higher dose just to feel "normal." If your responsible with your medications and don't abuse them they will work the way intended and they should not have any ill effects.
Now this is my experience other people may have a completly different experience all together, it took me a long time to find the right mix that was helpful for my conditions. You can't just say this drug works for this or this drug works for that, you need to find a good doctor that really understands you and stick to him or her. |

I guess I'm OUT of the loop.
The only drugs any of my friends are on would be DVDs or athletics.
If you're including those, then yes Everyone's on something. |

Yes. The multi-multi-multi-billion dollar pharmaceutical industry exists because people *don't* use drugs. |

Thank you Doctor for giving your professional opinion. I've been here for 3 1/2 years and have been able to manage it pretty well. With the proper medication I can keep my anxiety under control. You have no idea what triggers my anxiety for all you know it could be meeting terds like you in a bar that sets me off. |
