http://www.businessweek.com/news/2010-05-02/obama-says-oil-spill-may-be-unprecedented-disaster-update2-.html

Quote:
President Barack Obama called the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico a massive and potentially unprecedented environmental disaster and insisted the federal governments response was quick and aggressive.

Unprecedented? Did he forget about the Exxon Valdez? I remember when he called the global financial crises as being "worse than the Great Depression." I swear, Obama is going to run out of superlatives before his term is over.

Yeah, and speaking of superlatives, his "solution" so far has been to send SWAT teams to the Gulf rigs...

Quote:
Mr. Obama said SWAT teams were being dispatched to the Gulf to investigate oil rigs and said his administration is now working to determine the cause of the disaster.

Seriously, SWAT teams... If that's not over the top, I don't know what is...

Actually he is right. As of right now it does have the potential to be even worse than the Exon Valdez disaster.

So that's it? He likes to use superlatives.

OP, this is an Obama Derangement Syndrome thread.

$0.10 says I find the OP telling other posters they are criticizing Bush unreasonably or unfairly in the archives.

When I read 90 days to stop the oil, I too feel like becoming a Drama King! 90 days is unacceptable. And then the government will be blamed for a lack of quick responsive action. Why can't BP go down there and cap that gusher off now? Shut errrr' down boyz!!!

If they can't stop it today, how do they think they are going to stop it 3 months from now? The Gulf of Mexico and the Carribean are doomed. What about Flipper? What about the emerald blue waters teaming with life? What about the souring US and central American economies? Well it's all doomed to hell in a handbasket. Sound overly dramatically pessimistic? It sucks.

BP's fix. No more marijuana cigarette smoking on oil rigs. And a slough of new stupid rules that will probably fail to address or fix any issues.

I see no difference between Bush using Terrorism to strike fear in Americans, and Obama using everything ELSE to do it.

At least Bush stuck to 1 topic. Obama would make a possum run over by an SUV a national tragedy and demand some sort of speedy bill go through Congress to spend more money.

If we launch another disasterous, needless, costly, innocent-killing war because of this oil spill, I'll be 100% on your side that there's no difference.

I think the Healthcare plan is disastrous, needless, costly, and will kill innocents in the waiting rooms of hospitals. I guess its all worth it if Jack, who is a drug addict, gets his free healthcare while John, who works hard to support his family and paying taxes, dies in the waiting room.

Although I doubt it will be as bad as you describe (especially in terms of increased death rates; expenses will probably increase, but overall deaths will likely decrease), I don't support the health care bill. It's still an order of magnitude different from starting a needless war. Bad domestic policy is a mistake. Starting a needless war is sociopathic, evil murder. The two simply aren't comparable.

Would the victims of Saddam Hussein, his sons, and his regime agree that the war was needless? From your perspective the war was needless, from another's perspective it was necessary.

One person will say the Healthcare Reform was long overdue, another will say it was pointless waste of money. Who's to say who's right?
