SoakitinCider,

You are my musical hero. Seriously. "Monster" by Steppenwolfe is very underrated. Grandfunk knew how to lay down some licks too. I wouldn't discover those bands until I was 18 though.

I bought my first cassette tape in my early teens - Cargo by Men At Work. I had not heard any of the songs yet but I had loved the videos from the Business as Usual album. Men At Work was the first band I was really into. Oh youth...

And Big Lots - oh man - that brought back memories!

I like music. Some of the new stuff is good. But great music is forever! There's a reason we still listen to Beethoven and the like. Do you think folks will be diggin' Brittany in 200 years? Really? Very Happy Unposter you are right about "Monster". Those words ring especially true today. Play it for your friends. John Kay wrote some really cool stuff, didn't he?

Probably an Elvis or Beatles record in the 70's. I remember some film soundtracks (Empire Strikes Back & Flash Gordon: Music By Queen) in 1980. Otherwise, the early 80's it was a whole lotta Zep, then Priest, Maiden, Sabbath, Dio, Purple and the rest is history.

First album - Star Wars soundtrack. I was pretty protected as a kid. Parents listened to elevator AM music and the MTV generation began while I was in high school. Not olnly being a nerd, I also played brass in my middle school band.

First cassette: Men At Work. I would get into pop more in high school.

First CD: Shakira - Pies Descalos. I love her early Spanish language stuff more. I started studying languages in high school and met a few international students in university during my language study. A Mexican student gave this to me

Men At Work-Business as Usual.

Me and a friend would always request to sing "Kookaburra" in grade three music class because it sounded like "Land Down Under".
