Recently I was contacted by Maple Education Consulting Firm after applying to one of their ads found on Daves.

The email was forwarded to me multiple times and the written english was not good, as if it were written by a Korean. The website is 99% korean and in GIF format, so it is hard for me to try and translate the words with my little book, and i cant use software.

MY QUESTION IS:
Has anyone worked or applied through MEC?

Poor written English is common among smaller recruiters. However, the fact that their web site is in Korean is bizarre considering they're targeting ESL teachers.

I have neither heard of nor worked with MEC but if I were you I would simply find another recruiter. They're extremely easy to find. If a recruiter doesn't have the business sense to make themselves as accessible as possible then you probably don't want to deal with them.

I was introduced to EOEC by one of the current recruiters at Maple. The owner, "Kevin," seems rough around the edges and I did end up in probably the worst village schools and one of the worst townships in Korea. There were two other expat teachers before me dating back to May of 2009. 3 teachers in less than a year is a sparkling record, and it would have been nice if I'd been forewarned about being stuck teaching Special Needs Students and future gangsters.
