|
|
Hi, I've been asked to accompany a female friend to a Korean wedding. She's not thrilled to go, but asked me to come along to... share the misery, I guess.
I'm female, too. What should I wear? Can I just wear pants and a shirt, or should I wear a dress? Thanks. |

Wear what you would to a wedding in your home country. |

I haven't been to a wedding since I was little. I wore a dress, then... I guess I can wear slacks and a blouse. |

As long as you don't wear white, I'm sure it's fine. |

Wear whatever you please. I've seen people at weddings dressed in suits, hanbok, and even jeans. Almost anything is acceptable as long as you give a monetary gift to the couple. |

I'm good now. I think my light-coloured pants suit.
The wedding sounds like a drag. It's for an acquaintance of my friend's father. The father was in a car accident (he's ok) but he's in the hospital, so he's making his daughter go. And I'm coming along to witness one of these wedding thingies. |

You'll be surprised at the high number of informally dressed people at Korean weddings. But I personally think it's better to wear something professional/formal. |

I've been to over 10 Korean weddings here and always wear slacks with a button-up shirt and tie, sometimes a jakcet if it's cold out. Besides the family, I am always one of the most overdressed males under 50 there. I'm not about to wear jeans and a t-shirt to a wedding even if others do but I wouldn't, and haven't, considered other foreigners who underdress to be 'douches'. At least they don't show up 30 minutes late and talk loudly on their cell phones throughout. |
