From what I've gathered reading this forum, it needs to be a full moon, Jupiter needs to be in the ascendant opposed to Uranus, and you'll also require a pint of cat's blood, some salt (for drawing the magic circle), three five centimetre twigs picked from a cherry tree when it was blossoming, and a kilo of kimchi (for all such rituals in Korea the latter is especially necessary). I'm not familiar with the details, but someone else will be.

I'd actually say he is spot on. I'm not aware of any way to apply directly to the Gangnam DOE. I"m pretty sure you have to go through SMOE or GEPIK or EPIK and just get lucky.

is that how it works?

so there is no way to possibly state you would like to work in that area?

Sorry, but after spending some time trying to find info on the matter i am still a bit clueless.

How does it work exactly?

Gangnam hires its own teachers for their district. When they have openings, they post ads in the job listings here. I think they just finished asking teachers whose contracts are up whether or not they plan on renewing, so it will be a while before they know how many teachers they will be hiring, maybe in June. Just keep checking the job listings to see when they're hiring. I think you must have at least 2 years teaching experience and a TESOL certificate. Good luck.

I'll 3rd that.

I've already done so much for EPIK but now I've just been told that I have to send them some of my toenail clippings, and they specifically state they must be from my small toe (left foot). Mad

well, judging by the level of the maturity demonstrated in these responses, i am not surprised that EPIK, or whoever else has the final say, has failed to give you a second thought.

Hey! Lighten up *lead boy!!!
I doubt you'll get much interest with that lack of SOH, never mind being able to handle the culture shock cycle.

I've just had an interview with EPIK and have another interview with a POE tomorrow. Chocs awaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy!

If you can navigate the Korean version of the site, then you might just get what you are looking for.

You do not apply through SMOE or any of the other public school organizations. You have to apply directly to through Gangnam, but only when they advertise for jobs. I got an e-mail address through some Korean people I know last year. The guy's response was quite rude wanting to know first where I got his e-mail, and then telling me that I had to wait for Gangnam to advertise the job. So, unless you run across a job advertisement or know someone, I would say there really isn't any other way in.
