I've been here long enough that I'm a little jaded and don't really care about the babo T-shirts and all the wacky things Koreans do. I do my job and leave, but today I had to ask why all the students were wearing red shirts printed with UNIFICATION COREA

The Korean teachers got pretty angry at me because I didn't understand the meaning of Unification South Korea !

I thought Unification Corea would represent the United North and South Koreas, but they just shouted at me and rolled their eyes and raised their hands, and pulled at their hair repeating:
"NO, No, UNIFICATION SOUTH KOREA, NOT NORTH!"

Do I not understand? Was there a famous unification in south korea, like when vietnam's north and south unified after the war?

It kind of looked like them, but that was 8 years ago and they did spell Korea with a "C".
I haven't seen any World Cup 2010 shirts yet.

If they said 'unification of *South* Korea' and if it was not about sports, then I guess could be a campaign to end the inter-provincial family feuding e.g. between Gyeongsangdo and Jeollado, and come together as a country.

Although the World Cup seems like a hella good reason to do just that.

They're having a lot of commercials related to World Cup recently. I love the one where a bunch of K's are running towards something, and it flashes "Again Korea". I guess they mean making final 4 like they did in 2002.

I laugh at that commercial. It's more like 'Never Again Korea'.
