Hey everybody. I'm on the hunt for some small video clips to show my classes. Maybe around 2-3 minutes; you know something to lighten the mood before lessons. Outside of the obvious choices of Mr. bean and the occasional Simpson clip what are some of the other options out there? |

I like youtube... use something like the "ant downloader" to copy them to your hard drive. (works with other video sites too).
Search for kids vids, ESL, phonics, kids music, nursery rhymes, etc.
You can even search for ttompatz (shameless plug...lol.)

I show short clips from youtube of Mr. Bean. The most popular video for my students is the 10 funniest HomeAlone scenes. |

These are gold. Disney shorts from the 30s. They seem to go over well.
It pays to download them, as youtube is super unreliable right now. "1-click youtube dowlnloader" has worked well for me. It's a plug in for the Firefox browser. |

I have a player full of the BEST youtube video shorts for students. Find it recently cleaned up (from dead links) on the main page of EFL Classroom 2.0. The top 100 IMO.

I also show funny AFN clips and the like from youtube.
Bean or more gentle humour is great for getting attention to start the class.
Anything hilarious at the beginning of class can unsettle Ss for a good 15 mins. |
