I want to buy somethings online. I don't have a credit card.

Is there any way for me to open a Pay Pal account or get a pre-paid or virtual credit card that will work everywhere online, from Korea? I don't care about linking anything to my bank account or getting any money sent back to me. I just want to put cash in and spend it.

You can get a prepaid credit card at KEB.

You can't get Korean paypal without being a korean and having an ID card.

if you still have a bank account at home you send money to you could set up a paypal account there and use it, that's what I do.

Thanks for the KEB tip. I will check it out. So I could get that card quickly and it will work on all online purchases?

I don't have any bank account at home or North American credit card. I can use a Canadian address and phone number if needed, but that is it.

Any other tips? I have to imagine lots of people have been in a similar situation.

I guess you've been here awhile. You could set up a PC financial account next you're home. no fee accounts. So it isn't going to eat it up while you're not looking and transfer money for the odd purchase. I guess kind of a pain, but since I already had it set up, I have found it somewhat useful.

If you've been here awhile and married to a Korean you could get her to set up a paypal in an account you can have access to.

Maybe you can apply for RBC and ING Direct accounts online? ING charges no monthly fees I believe.

I have a KEB Int'l Visa Debit card and I tried to link it to Paypal but it didn't work because the card can only be used for overseas ATM withdrawals, not purchases, and Paypal is considered a purchase. Try getting an actual Visa purchase card, that might work.
