I am married to a Korean woman and we have lived in England since we met. We have a 2 year old daughter.

My wife is quite homeisck and wants to be able to live in Korea, if only for a few years.

As far as I know, teaching without a degree is illegal (but still happens in Hagwons), but some people have said that you can tutor privately without a degree. Is this true?

As I said, I don't have a degree but I do have some higher education. I have a Diploma in Financial Planning.

You could study at a Korean university. Pick up the lingo, graduate and start teaching. Your wife could support you by working privates and tutoring etc.

That is an option, my wife will probably be working for LG. Still, I would like to be able to work, even if it is just part time.

I think you can work on a student visa for an amount of time, like 20hrs. So tutoring ?

Im sure you can find work teaching without a degree. If you have an f-2 i doubt a hagwon would even ask you for your degree. Just don't tell them. I work with a f-2 with no degree and not native, they just don't tell the parents.

Yeah dude, your F-2 is the ticket to ride. Start teaching privates for
50,000 won/hour. Design and print flyers. Pay the apartment office
to stamp them and then post them on the bulletin boards near the
elevators. Costs between 30,000-70,000 per complex. When I do this
I always get 1 or 2 new teams. Each team, if taught once per week,
equals 200,000/month. Teach 20 hours a week for 4 million/mo. Easy,
peazy lemon squeazy.

With the F2 you still need to register to teach private lessons.

I suggest you contact the RELEVANT authorities if you want accurate information...or have your wife do that.

This forum will provide opinions, many of which are uninformed or guesses along with a fair number of BS artists who just type up crap.

You could pm Tom...he is pretty dead on with these issues.

You can of course work illegally on your F2.

A team is a group of usually 1-4 students.

Pretty sure you DON'T need a degree to teach on an F2. Schools might ask if you have it but you never need to submit anything to immigration as you already have your F2.

Immigration won't care but when your hagwon goes to register you with the local Office of Education, they'll care quite a bit and refuse to allow you to work there. No registration with teh MOE means you would be working illegally. This is true of Koreans as well. Immigration only cares about an E-2's degree because it's an MOE requirement.

If he works for any institute, they will need to register him with the MOE.
So, he will need a degree.

However, there are a few hagwons that are shady enough to not report their employees.

As suspected, the F2 does not qualify you for the E2 if you do not have the minimal requirement of a degree from one of the accepted nations.

Why in the world would anyone want a crappy E2 if they already have
an F2???

The F2 is it man. No CBC, no drug tests, no transcripts. Work where
you want. Go where you want. Vacation when you want. Drink when
you want. Confucius say: "Cut out the middle man, man".

E2 = handcuffed to some hagwon, sucks bad, for newbs only.
