Is it just me, or do Koreans have a hard time knowing when to hang it up for the night. the sam-gup-sal is finished, the soju's been long gone--i think im actually starting to feel sober again, the conversation has surely run its course, but the need to sit there and undergo numerous awkward silences boggles my brain. im talking about going out with my boss and co-workers....friends are different obviously. |

Haha! I thought this thread was about "knowing when it's time to leave Korea". A lot of folks seem to have trouble with that.
But yeah, I've noticed this with my boss and coworkers, too. But it's what they do, so you just get used to it, I suppose. I almost always make up an excuse about having to wake up early the next day or something. Never fails. |

Really? I get the opposite- everyone is clearing out while people are still picking at things on the table. It's balli balli over to the Noraebang. It's like "Woah people, we CAN just sit here and talk." |

I usually say I have an "appointment" later that night so I can leave earlier. I mean, 2-3 hours is enough time for dinner! I don't want to spend all night there. |

Just say you're tired and need to wake up early the next day or something. And remember one more thing -- even if they want you to leave, they'll never ask you. So make a polite excuse as to why you have to leave. |

Damn you've got it lucky, once everyone has had too much soju to move then it's noraebang time for us. On average if we start drinking/eating around 10 I wouldn't expect to be home before 3 or 4. |
