In this thread, I'm going to list, and write short blurbs for (maybe), lesser-known, American TV shows I believe are essential viewing. You might think TV is a waste of time (I don't think it is), but If you're going to watch it at all, watch these shows. I'm going to try to keep it in the past decade. I'm also only going to include shows I've watched all the way through/am up to date with. I'll be adding shows from time to time.

Breaking Bad - Overqualified high school chemistry teacher Walter White turns to producing meth to secure his family's financial future after being diagnosed with terminal cancer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TpQoavGLWIo

Arrested Development - Follows the crazy antics of perhaps the most dysfunctional family ever. An unbelievably witty and intelligent comedy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RmOqscfrFOE&feature=related

Curb Your Enthusiasm - If Seinfeld were based in California and aired on premium cable TV, this show would be it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGjElvt4nP8

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia - I'm too lazy to write any more blurbs. I'll let the clips speak for themselves. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BClZx2W1Hsg&NR=1

No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGEpQfgS-3M

The Colbert Report - http://www.colbertnation.com/home

The Daily Show with Jon Stewart - http://www.thedailyshow.com/

Lazyyyy... maybe I'll add more later.

Nobody needs to watch TV. In fact television is a detriment to the quality of life of most people. You would do well to sell the "idiot box" and read a book, or go outside!

If you must, watch/read your news online, because other than the news and weather, TV is unnecessary and unproductive.

TV is not alone in this.

You know, I could do that... but... I'm okay.

I'm guessing you also hate movies.

TV is a medium. To say there is nothing of worth on that medium is asinine (The History Channel and the Discovery Channel to name a couple off the top of my head.)

I despise Bourdain....and I'm probably going to be alone in saying that while I liked Arrested Development, it's not as "laugh out loud" funny to me as it is to others...I feel like it's a little overrated and if it had lasted more than 3 seasons it wouldn't be as popular as it is today.

I agree with the rest of your choices though.
