Hi everyone! I just moved to Gimcheon City this week from Canada, and am curious as to if there are any other ESL teachers here who may be able to show me some spots of interest. So far, I've been having a blast flying solo and pointing out lovely menu items and going behind store counters to see what I owe. But it would be nice to meet other people who may be sharing some of these experiences! |

Try meeting up with the foreign teachers at Gimcheon College (which I think became a university recently). They seemed like a nice bunch.
There's a movie theater and a McDonald's close to the train station.
Also, there's a really nice bookstore in Gumi, which is just about 20 minutes away on the train and they have several nice cinemas there as well.
Gumi's a bigger city and has a foreigner bar or two and more people to meet up with. And about an hour from you by train is Daegu, which is a major city with lots to do, a Kyobo Bookstore, shopping, etc.
Good luck to you! |

Check out the following:

If not, just do a search for Gimcheon in facebook, there is a group in there somewhere.
You are lucky I decided to check out the forum today, since I rarely do.
There are at least 20 foreign born native english speakers in the area working at local schools and hagwons. |

Are you or are any of your friends working for Alphabet City Language School?
There is a nice cafe that's located across the street from the bus station and Lotteria burger restaurant. As you cross the street from the station, you'll see a grocery store. Instead of walkng into the market, turn to your Left, and then walk about 500 feet. You should see a chilled little place on the Right. Decent drinks for under 7 thousand won can be had there. |

Hey, thank you for the tip.
I'm here by myself, so I'm not really sure who works where, but I'm working for Maple College. They just opened up here within the last 2 months. |

Go to Jikjisa! I mean, see the temple once, but you can eat like..King Sejong for like 18k. They just keep bringing you food until you make them stop. It's excellent. |
