I was just able to take my 4th true shower in 3 weeks, as my hot water has not worked until today. Lo and behold, my shower drain is completely clogged. --A mystery, as I have hardly used it.

So, does anyone know if the Drano-like products at HomePlus work? Any tips on using them? I won't be able to read the directions (working on it!) but I can remember the general method...

Many thanks!

There are such products, you can probably get it at your local mart as well. The kind I use has an off white bottle and there is a picture of a pipe on it.

Before you go buy it lift up your drain cover. You'll notice a little plastic thing that has 10 years worth of hair and man spunk collected in it. After gagging and dry-heaving, clean it out.

Good call! I ran to the plus mart for rubber gloves and cleaned it out. Nasty job, but worth it. Thank you!

Much better than a chemical drain cleaner is a
drain "snake".

This is a 10 meter coil of spring-like wire housed in a
plastic drum the size of a medium sized bowl.

It costs 10,000 won and can be purchased at a general
tool supply shop, they are everywhere.

You push the coil wire as far as you can into the drain,
then you tighten the screw which attaches it to the drum
and turn the wire in a circle using the drum to spin it.
When the coil gets wound up, it "jumps" around the next turn
in the piping and you can loosen the screw attaching it to the
drum and feed more coil into the drain just by pushing it
by hand.

When it comes to another impasse, repeat.

Chemicals seldom do as well at clearing the blockage, and of course
pouring chemicals down the drain is not so great.

I use 펑크린 (Punclin) and it's been effective for me. I bought it at Homeplus.
