I disagree. While one may be bombarded by stumpy Chinese girls in Shanghai or wherever else, it is not impossible to date attractive Korean women. I had a hard time even spotting any attractive women in China in all of the places I went as opposed to Seoul. Taiwan had some cuties though.

I didn't say all attractive Korean women are untouchable, just most. Maybe its not as impossible as one would think but I still have yet to see a western male with a ridiculously attractive Korean female. Average sure, but racing girl, korean drama, celebrity hot? Still have yet to see it.

Well, most of the girls that hot have a lot of plastic surgery. I once dated a girl who was a ballet dancer, and man was she gorgeous, but the emotional baggage that came along led it to be a relatively short lived experience. Another girl worked for a big fashion merchandising company, and she too was hot. She also had a fake nose and augmentation. It's all gotta be natural for me to be impressed.

I agree with the emotional baggage bit... a friend of mine was dating a crazy hot Korean girl (racer girl with a motorbike btw :p) but even though she seemed really nice to me, it seems behind closed doors she did have quite a few serious emotional issues to work through... hence they are not together anymore...

In my opinion though I think that like attracts like. If you are a ridiculously good looking man, the likelihood is that your chances of attracting a ridiculously good looking woman are relatively high. Being a girl myself, I have to say that I don't think that the majority of foreign men in Korea would be classed as "ridiculously attractive". Good looking and average looking more like. This being the case it makes sense that uber attractive Korean women would be less attainable to them. But that's just my opinion ^-^

Thank goodness people like you are around to dispel the prejudiced opinion that Korean women are shallow to a fault and only date men based on their physical appearance compared to their own.

Don't judge a book by its cover. In Korea, you judge it by how much money is between the pages.

For men in Korea, looks only get you so far. Its money that matters. Average looking guy with deep pockets trumps good looking guy living on ESL salary any day.

Maybe I've just been lucky, but the girls I've been dating have bought me anywhere from skinny jeans to steak dinners. I pay sometimes as well, and it is half and half in most cases. Usually there is a nice reciprocation that I frankly appreciate, and it has altogether shocked me (in a good way). It makes me feel like I have some worth in the relationship.

However, I have dated a couple that wanted me to pay for everything, and argued that "this is Korea, this is what Korean men do." I laughed and kicked them to the curb real quick; girl gotta know I'm tryna save money mein.

You started off strong, but you began to flounder toward the end. You have to remain focused on the follow-through. Remember: Keep your eye on the coherence. Shocked Very Happy

Sometimes I'm glad I'm a hopeless loser and don't have to put up with the madness you folks report. How harrowing it must be!

If a Chinese woman insists on paying for the dinner (and yours), she's not interested. If she doesn't, and then follows you home after repeated attempts to convey to her you are busy and want to meet another day (to which she'll try again saying she will take a taxi home) then she's interested.

However, like Korean women, it usually ends up like you don't know the person the next day.

Yeah, you're probably right. I'm a pretty shallow *beep*. I always have to pay for everything. And what's worst -- I don't even put out half the time. Although I am pretty good in bed. I know exactly how I like it Wink

I think to say Korean girls are shallow isn't all that false. I mean, it is considered a pretty superficial country and the girls are victims of that. I think it's natural that such social pressure from having to look good takes its toll on the girls. They will probably feel that looks are sooo important and then act accordingly. I mean, some kids grow up with their parents telling them to do plastic surgery...come on

I've seen it.
Once while on a bus home, a man and his family (I only noticed his hawt wife) sat behind me and spoke German. I looked at his stunning mate, noticed she was fluent as well. If you are going to get a Perfect 10, A) be a polygot or B) DONT TEACH ESL Laughing

Japanese are much more relaxed/open to the fooling around with foreigner thing. Korean girls- well most of them wont even sit next to a foreigner on a bus that should tell you something

So true. Chinese women from Shanghai (as mentioned earlier) tend to be the princess type (ala in Korea). "Shanghai poodles", I've heard it said.

Whereas in rural areas (in my case years ago, Xian), there are few foreigners and you will be a rare commodity. Yes, commodity.

Dating was WAY easier in China, as was Japan, compared to Korea. But that's just me.

As far as hot Korean women avoiding foreigners: I don't think they have any need to learn English to help their careers (as mentioned) because they have looks. Anyways, they are most certainly looking to leverage those looks into a "trophy husband" who works at Samsung, drives a Beemer, rakes in the cash, provides financial security, buys a large apartment and whatever else.

Dudes with bachelors from Iowa State who make 3 million won a month, ride the bus and will probably head back home to do something else in a few years aren't typically on the radar. And why would they be? By virtue of being white?
