Hi, I'm thinking about going to Jeju on the weekend of the the 21st and I wanted to know the cheapest way to get there since I'm short on money and yet I really want to see that island.

So what is the cheapest way to get there?

Get a K friend to book for you using their login ID. Back in February of this year, foreigners couldn't register using their ARC code. Maybe the company has updated their website to allow foreigners to book fares on their own.

2) Take the ferry from the Incheon docks. Don't have the contact info, though. You board at around 5-6 pm and arrive on Jeju-do the next morning. There are three classes: your own room, a cabin of six bunk beds with privacy curtains, or ondol floor-style room for 15 ppl.

I've tried to get a flight to Jeju for that weekend, Buddha's birthday. No way, no how. No flights open. You are going to either have to try for an odd flight schedule, or better yet, pick a different weekend.

Korea's become such a frustrating place for flying in the last few years. I can't get seats for any time I'm able to go anywhere. Book way ahead.

Head to Gimpo on the day you'd like to leave and try to fly stand-by. I lucked out and got a round-trip ticket to Jeju for 60,000 won during Chuseok a few years ago doing this. It's not a guarantee, but I know a few other people who have done this.

Some of those white machines where you try to get the rod through that frustratingly small hole have return tickets from Gimpo to Jeju. So if you are lucky you could win tickets for 500won.

Ferry is the cheapest.

You can get on at Incheon port, Busan port, and a few others. 3rd class (In a big open room, and you sleep on the group. Very similar to a jin jin bang room) - 50,000 Won (If you buy early you can get it for 30,000)

2nd Class - Sleep in a bed cabin with 7 other people - 100,000 Won (Not much of a step up. Rooms are extremely hot)

The fairy leaves at 5ish from Incheon and arrives in Jeju in the morning. Since most of the traveling is at night, you won't see much. Except an amazing sunrise.

You can always do what I did one Chusok when all the flights to Cheju were booked. Buy a standing room Mugunghwa ticket to Mokpo. If you're getting on at the first station (i.e. Seoul Station), you'll have no trouble finding a spot on the floor between cars to sit on. It's about a 5-1/2 hour train ride. Then take the ferry from Mokpo to Cheju, also about 5-1/2 hours. When I did it, here was only a 2 hour wait in Mokpo, so it was actually faster than taking the ferry from Incheon, and was actually a bit cheaper. Traveling in style, however, it was not.

if you book early enough you can get flights as low as 50.000 krw.

but for that youd have to book months in advance.
if you dont, flights will be around 89.000 krw up to 130.000 krw.
which is still very cheap considering the exchange rate.

however. i had a friend taking the ferry from incheon, i think. she said the ride was rather smooth and it was around 50.000 or 60.000. not sure anymore.

you can also take the train to busan and hop on a ferry there. would be faster than taking the ferry from incheon. price wise im not sure how much it would be.
