I have taught in Korea in 2007 (Daegu) and am looking to meet a friend and teach in either Ulsan or Busan. However, from my past experiences, its worth it to fly over, take a week and check things out, then score a job.

Now I know Americans get an automatic 30 day stamp. What about passing the Korean check at the consulate in the States? All the paperwork? I assume that I could just get a health check there.

Much apologies if this has already been discussed.

IF you have had a previous E2, ASSUMING you have NOT had any problem with immigration in the past (overstay, private teaching, etc) AND assuming you have all your documents (original degree or copy with apostille, SEALED, official university transcripts and a CBC with apostille) in hand

THEN you can come on over, land your position and make a visa run.

side note: Americans now get 90 days on an entry stamp instead of 30.

wow, 90 days when did that start.

I had always had a tourist visa and that was multiple entry 90 days.

Do Canadians still get 6 months for their entry visa?

Americans started getting 90 days when Korea was admitted to the visa waiver (no visa entry) program in the states.

Yes, Canuks still get 6 months.

I have never had a previous E-2, but I have all the required documents. Is it possible to come over on a tourist visa, and then do a visa-run?

Other posters may know something different, but I really don't think so. According to the new immigration rules, for your first E-2 visa you must have an interview at the Korean consulate in your home country. I think someone on here said you might be able to do it in Guam if you are an American because it is a U.S. territory, but I'm not sure about that.
