Hi.

I had an E-2 visa for two years; during the second year, I submitted a criminal record check / health check / etc.

I moved back to the States last fall, but am returning to Korea this June (same school as before). I understand that I need to resubmit the docs, and I'm in the process of obtaining these.

I had heard that the visa interview was *waived* for previous E-2 visa holders. However, I was reading up on the process this morning and came across some previous E-2 visa holders who went through the Chicago consulate (I live in Ohio and am in that consular district) and were required to go in for an interview anyway.

Now, I have nothing against a trip to Chicago inherently, but it is a bit inconvenient, so I'd rather not go if I don't have to. And since I've held an E-2 visa and have never violated immigration law, it really doesn't seem that I should have to.

Thoughts?

Shouldn't have to... I got my second E2 through that office, no problem.

But the consulate is close to the action... hostel not that far either. Turned into a pretty good yet relatively cheap trip to Chi-town. Cool
