Posted By: ESL PLANET <[email protected]>
Date: Monday, 10 May 2010, at 4:47 p.m.

EPIK and EPIK SEOUL Public schools are filling fast and the deadline for applications is fast approaching. It is time to turn the TV off, walk away from the JUMBO pack of cherios and FOCUS!!!....the SEINFELD MARATHON will be there when you get back. So get off your butt and send in your application. Heaven forbid you should have only private schools to apply to for AUGUST!

Yeah, I've never been of fan of this recruiter's cheeky ads, and this one in particular is pointlessly and randomly snooty.

"Hey all you Cheerio-gobbling fatties! I've got a bunch of crappy public school gigs, so it's time to get off your jumbo-sized butts and help me get paid! Heaven forbid that you realize that a ton of private schools pay far more for far less work."

A breakfast of cheerios can help lower your cholesterol.

Only in conjunction with a healthy diet and exercise....but they print that part of the marketing slogan in a smaller font.

Come on, it's tongue-in-cheek. Like the free kimchi for a year ad they did a while back. Rowan and ESL Planet were good to me and a number of others I know......no BS, prompt replies, honest advice given for free when it wasn't at all clear that I would be using his agency.

Why does he need to write a professional job ad for a non-professional job?

Get off your butt and apply! Otherwise you'll be stuck at hagwon jobs! Unless you're older or an actually qualified teacher, in which case public schools won't pay the salaries you command, and you'll be stuck making 2.1 at a hagwon anyway!

The ad's silly, sure, but Rowan seems great. I talked to him when I was going through my job-search, and it was clear from about two minutes into our conversation that he didn't have a job for me at that time and I wouldn't be earning him any money, but he still spent about twenty minutes giving me the lowdown on how I should go about finding a good job and what I should and shouldn't believe from other recruiters. I was impressed.
