I didn't think I'd have to resort to this, but what kind of store will sell plenty of hello kitty merch? One that I don't have to travel into the middle of seoul to reach...
Basically I lost some hello kitty crockery of my friends and plan on buying it back plus something extra...

Also, any ideas on what to get four of my girl students for a late children's day prezzie? I promised I would because they got 100 on difficult tests, I figure I'd spend something nothingy around 1k... They're about 11-12. I was just gonna get stickers but Perhaps a little old to find that interesting.

Cheers y'all

Being a bit of a Kitty lover myself I can tell you that Hello Kitty is now widely available - although the things you find all over the place (ie; non-specialty stores) are pretty much knock-offs.

If you want the real deal try the Sanrio stores.
Also http://www.sensekitty.com/

For a mix of real and fake: G-Market, the Marts (especially the stationery and houseware sections).

For pure cheap knock-offs: Daiso.

Before you replace your friends crockery I would try to ascertain whether it was real or fake. The real stuff can be quite pricey and the quality can be quite different too. Some of the fake dishware that you get in Daiso for example is cheap rubbish and looks nothing like the real stuff - no matter how many 'authentic' Sanrio stickers they put on it. Your friend might not care, but if (she? ^^) does, you'd better replace it right!

Haha, well actually it came free after purchasing some other stuff so it's probably knock off, but it looked pretty good. But she's always buying me gifts so I figure this would be a nice gesture. I'll check this stuff out, thanks =D

I'm pretty sure there's a Hello Kitty store at the Coex Mall. They've got Hello Kitty everything. I saw a Hello Kitty golf club set. Found it very difficult to not pass judgment...

There most definitely is one in COEX mall. It is on a corner on the way to the movie theater or the aquarium. It's across from the arcade. It can be expensive.

Sorry, but 1,000 won for a Children's Day present? CHHHEEEAAAAPPOOOO!!!!

"Hello Kitty" is Japanese (as is Doraemun).

If you are giving to Korean people/students you should give "MashiMaro" because that is the Korean equivalent - and Korean people prefer it.

There is no evidence that 'Korean people/students' prefer Mashimaro to Hello Kitty. There is quite a great deal of evidence to the contrary though. Do you work for Mashimaro? Is he your buddy?

Sorry - didn't realize "Hello Kitty" was your girlfriend (but hey - I heard she sleeps with heaps of guys)

Koreans have the MashiMaro cellphone (Known as the Mashimaro M808) and the MashiMaro mp3 player.

I have never seen a Korean with a "Hello Kitty" cellphone or mp3 player.

My initial point of contention was that you have no clue what 'korean people/students' prefer to get. You've based your assumption on trivial things like, 'There is a Mashimaro cellphone and MP3 player' and 'I've never seen a Hello Kitty cellphone'.

I haven't even mentioned the fact that your post has nothing to do with the OP. Did you even read it?

Ryan

P.S. Hello Kitty is a saint.

I see my students with far more Hello Kitty accessories than Mashimaro. Gmarket has Hello Kitty everything: lamps, toasters, coffeemakers, tables etc. You're bound to run into Hello Kitty browsing that site.

Cheers - yeah I've seen this mashymutto thing once late last week when a kid showed me, but kitty is owned everywhere... Possibly due to my prior knowledge to its existence, but it's still pretty popular. I just seem to see one or two things like... a pencil and a car bumper sticker in each shop.
Going for a brows tomorrow morning.

In light of 'CHEAAAPPPP' - I ended up spending 10,000 overall between 4. Good enough?

A better Children's Day present is to tell all the kids that "In America, EVERY day is Children's Day!" Very Happy and watch 'em get PO'ed... Mad

and then after you tell them that - tell that that American kids don't have to go to Hagwons after school - after school they just play.
