Following up on this post...
I'd recommend...having a look at the following website and you can check out the best seats on most airplanes...
Worth a look and if you request one of the better seats it could be the diff between a smooth and a rocky flight..
The earlier you book your seat the better of course..
http://www.seatguru.com/
Ive used this site more than once to get a good seat and it does help a lot (especially if you have long legs etc) |

Thanks to the people who gave me those nice tips, to the rest like the guy calling me "wimp" can suck my you know what.
I am flying with korean airlines so I guess is not going to be a bad flight. The longest flight for me was 7 hours, on the way, the seats on the middle were empty so I slept like a baby, on the way back I don't remember a thing because I was wasted, so I guess I would do the same.
Actually is not only 12 hours on air, if you include my 5 hours flight to L.A.
Once again thank you! |

Staying up all night might be a good idea for some but getting trashed the night before a flight sounds like a really stupid idea. Starting out dehydrated and getting on a plane where I will become even more dehydrated, sitting in a cramped airplane seat for 12-14 hours, probably with a splitting headache, probably nauseous, possibly vomiting, and probably needing to make some urgent visits to a tiny, cramped airline bathroom with no privacy to speak of - no thank you. |

Do what I suggested. Except DO NOT sleep on the 5hr flight to LA. I stayed up all night. I didn't sleep on the flight to San Fran which was 5-6hrs, nor did I sleep during my 3hr layover. Once I got on that 12hr flight my eyes were hurting and I needed sleep BAD. I slept almost the whole 12hrs.
FYI I always take the window seat. Aisle seat = WORST. Here is why: first off, if you do sleep, the two people sitting next to you will want to wake you so they can use the toilet or stretch their legs. Secondly, the food cart and anyone barreling down the aisle tend to hit your arm or shoulder. You can't put your lets into the aisle, so why take that seat unless you have a bladder problem? |

try a 16 hour air asia flight, window with two huge people asleep so i couldn't move, no in flight tv, ipod out of battery, read all books, at night so nothing to see out of the window.
in the end i spent five hours doing the 'what if' game. saved my life. that and slowly driving the kid in front insane with a chopstick. |

Lol. If you want to play that game, I'll put you to shame. Try a 50 hour train ride in a hard sleeper in China to Tibet. First thing I notice when I flip my pillow around is green snot all over it, sand/hair/pubic hair all over my sheets, the person on the sleeper above me had a SEVERE foot odor problem, and whatever is supposed to be pushing air into the train had broken down. I spent a good amount of time in the space where cabins connect with my nose and mouth sucking air through a tiny gap between my cabin and the next. I fell asleep in that position, actually, for a blissful hour until an operator told me to go back to my sleeper. I have no idea how my friends managed to pass out for 9 hours straight wake up to eat/bathroom/take a short walk around the train, and pass out again a few hours later. I was up and suffering in stink and sweltering heat for about 80% of that time.
OP: Like someone said earlier, take a sleeping pill and knock the f*** out. |

| Another tip if you're going to request an aisle seat... when checking in, ask for 'a centre aisle seat near the back of the plane'. The chances are quite good that you'll have two or three empty seats beside you. It depends on how busy the route is though... if the flight is fully booked, this won't work, but it's worth a shot. |

I have to take the aisle seat, because 1 in 3 or 4 flights, I get nauseous on either takeoff or landing (usually landing). I fly a LOT, too, so this can be very, er... unpleasant. Thankfully, even when we are supposed to wear seat belts, the flight attendants know the international mime for "I'm going to throw up! Please let me get up to use the bathroom!"
I'd rather be woken up for someone else to get by than vomit at my seat any day! |

yeah I think I got like 3 hours of sleep the night before I left.
If you can fall asleep on the plan thats anwhere from 1/2-3/4 of your trip!
I took Korean Air and became obsessed with beating this pong-like video game. I think I played it for 3 hours straight! |

| I fly from Korea to the UK and back again twice every year, that's about 18 hours plus transfer time (total 24 hours or so) |

Wear a suit and ask to get bumped up to business class. The food is excellent, the seats more comfortable and they never let your glass get empty.
If that doesn't work take some sleeping pills. Most doctors will supply you with a couple if you explain what they're for.
Put a few audiobooks on your mp3 player. |
