Does anyone have any Jeju-esque locations to recommend? I'd like to go to Jeju, but I know it's hard to get in, so I'm wondering if there are any undiscovered Jejus or Busans that would be easier to get into.

While I'm at it, what would I expect from a rural location? Why would it suck or rule? Would I be unlikely to find a gym in a rural location?

I guess it depends on timing. But it is easyto get into a private school.

The only downside is you may only be making 1.5m won a month. The standard on Jeju is 1.8 start wage, after taxes and such 1.5m. I was offered 3 jobs there, but it was to tough for me to think I go from 2.6m a month to 1.5 after deductions.

Geoje is Jejuesque and it's only a 50-minute ferry (and next year by long bridge-tunnel) from downtown Busan.

Or,... I highly recommend you base yourself out of Jinju in Gyeongsangnamdo as it is only one hour by bus from Busan, Geoje, Tongyeong, Namhae, Jiri, really a fantastic location if you travel thereabouts on the weekends. Focus on teaching from M-Th, do your laundry then, local food shopping, and get out of town from Friday night thru Sunday to many destinations. You don't need a car because the bus service from there is excellent and travel is cheap, with motels easy to find everywhere even Busan in the 25,000 won a night range.

Shocked No one I know makes that little here any more. 2.0 to 2.2 is what the vast majority I meet say they make. Some of us a little more.
