|
|
So I've been hearing rumors that if you sign up with Nonghyup internet banking you can only use it at ONE computer forever. So, is it true that if I sign up for internet banking using my work computer I will never be able to sign in on my home laptop and check my account?
Any help would be appreciated. I just got this internet banking and it's going to be deactivated tomorrow if I don't fully activate the account. |

| I don't know abouy Nonhyup specifically, but usually you just need to have your security certificate stored on a USB drive to be able to access your account from any computer. |

Look for an NPKI directory in your Program Files directory. Copy that NPKI directory onto a USB drive and then you can just plug it in to use on other computers.
Also, be aware you'll need to renew the certificate online every year. |

Hahaha...what?
I am functionally illiterate where it concerns computers so while I know what "certificate" and "USB drive" mean I honestly have no idea how I would go about saving my certificate to a USB and then using it at home or at work.
I see on the NH page there is a "manage certificates" section, so I'm guessing I save the certificate there.
Honestly, this is madness. |

Thanks.
I found the NPKI directory in program files. So, just to make sure I'm doing this correctly:
1. copy the entire NPKI folder onto my USB
2. Take it home and connect it to my computer
3. Do I have to remove it from my USB to my computer or does it stay on the USB? (I'm guessing I simply drag and drop to my desktop or something)
Thanks for your help! |

No need to remove it from your USB drive.
For computers you use daily, might be a good idea to copy the file onto that computer, so you won't need the use the USB every time you're on that computer.
If you're using Vista, copy the NPKI file into the c:/Program Files/
That's all you need to do. Just remember in a years time you'll need to update all the files again. Simple copy-paste procedure. |

Thanks! It's Windows 7 but I'm sure I can figure it out from there.

yeah...just consider your USB drive your "banking key"..its what you'll need to get into your account.
When you log into NH it will ask you where the certificate is stored. |

| I can't do it from my computer because the site only works on IE. I don't even use IE on my work PC! Ah well... It's not too difficult to walk down the block, I guess. |

| Why all the paranoia about online banking in Korea, anyways? My bank in the states has no problem with me logging on from any computer in the world by simply inputting an online banking number then my password. |

Seriously? Is this possible to do from abroad? |

Yup, that NPKI directory is a goldmine of Korea's 'advance' banking security. |

Seriously paranoid at NH. Such a pain in the A to do anything. They do have a very good English help line: 15882100 extension 730.
Also, make sure you use Internet Explorer. |

I was ambiguous. What I should have said was 'is it possible to renew the certificate from abroad'. |
