I'm a GEPIK teacher and had hoped to do some traveling in Southeast Asia after my contract ends. I've been foiled in every attempt to figure out way to do this. I'm not renewing at the end of this contract, so in order to be reimbursed for my flight home, it has to be within 10 days. This obviously doesn't allow for travelling.
The GEPIK rep said initially that they would reimburse for a flight to SE Asia if it was cheaper than a flight to the States, but now is saying that they can no longer do that.
Has anyone been able to travel after the end of your contract and still be reimbursed for a flight home, or anywhere for that matter? |

Not suggesting that you do one of these but had friends who did and got away with it.
1. Book a multi city flight and doctor out all the unecessary flight segments and readjust the cost. Print it out and give it to your school as a "receipt."
Friends booked multi segment flights to japan, hawaii, then home (Pennslyvania) and just changed the date in Japan to the same day as a connecting flight and deleted out the flight to Hawaii and adjusted the price to what it would be for a flight home on Micro Words.
2. Book a refundable flight. Turn in your receipt, get your reimbursement then cancel the flight.
Self explanatory.
3. Book a flight home after all your travels but changed the date on your "receipt" to leaving within ten days.
Friends did their travels in Asia for 4 weeks before returning to Korea for a week, then home. They booked their flight for 5 weeks later but changed the dates on Words to leaving when they took off for their travels.
I guess it all depends on what your school requires for proof of purchase to get a reimbursement.
They're all with GEPIK. |

If one did pursue the second course of action, and rebook the flight home for a later time, would that pose any potential difficulties when retrieving pension?
I know you have to show them a flight out of the country within a month, but does it matter where the flight is to? Could I potentially show them a ticket bound for SE Asia and still receive my pension? |
