I think they are hiring whoever fits their qualifications. Ivy league, education degree with a teaching license. If you have these, they will fly you over from the Moon. They are looking to hire 30 teachers, I doubt they will be able to find 30 of these - so if you have 2 of the 3 - I say apply! |

Yea they are hiring. They want said they wanted ppl who are in Korea. Gotta be a certified teacher though. I was told I had a job only to be contacted later and was told the job had been filled from the recruiting ppl on the U.S side. The principle, who is in Korea, is looking for ppl as well as the host school, Lee Academy. I guess they got their wires crossed. Good luck. After talking to the principal I think it would be a good place to work. |

Where did you get information on hiring? I must be blind as I didn't see it on their website. |

I found them on tieonline.com
25,000-35,000 US isn't a very attractive package for an international school. To put it into comparison, Seoul Foreign School's package is 40k-55k...a difference of 15 to 20k is pretty big.
I am not putting down the school, but if they want to be competitive they should at least be in the ballpark of what the Seoul schools offer, as cost of living differences between Seoul and Daegu are not even close to $5000 a year, much less $15,000.
I made over $40,000 a year working at a FLHS in Korea which had a lot less prep than an international school is going to demand for its first year.
Sad, as people like me might be interested, but aren't going to bust our butts for the same amount of money we can make teaching ESL. |

I'm pretty sure it said 4.5-5.0 million a month in the ad I saw, not sure of the exchange rate right now, but that has to be around $50,000 a year. Anyway, I wouldn't take it either for the amount you stated - so much work - for the same pay at an afterschoool program where you only work 4-5 hours a day. Some people could use it as a stepping-stone to other international schools though. A lot of the big ones require a certain amount of experience before you can work there. |

Where can a I find an after school spot for 4.5? I'd resign my current contract and jump at that. |

I have an interview next month for DIS ...
I heard that it was between 4-5 million won/month but I don't know for sure.
I also heard that the working hours are 9-6 ... I would do that for 4-5 million won but that is a loooong day. |

I don't see how they would advertise on an international school job posting site saying 25-35k and then post on an ESL site 4-5mil a month.
I couldn't find their job posting on that site given above. 4-5mil with housing and airfare is a decent package for an international school. 9-6 isn't bad. I currently work 8-3 and stay until 4pm to do an hour of extra curricular or office work. I am at around 4mil a month. It all depends on how many preps one gets. If you are teaching primary, if they have a different teacher for music, PE, art and second language that should give enough prep time. If you are teaching 7-9, they should give you enough preps. My school has 2 preps for 7-12 teachers a day, 4 teaching periods. This helps a lot.
If they are paying competitively, it looks like a good job for those who want to be out of Seoul. I can honestly tell you that it is a night and day difference between working for a Korean boss and a Western boss. Also, having new facilities is awesome. I wish my school was new. I went to a conference at a brand new international school, I was drooling the whole time! |

9-6? That's not an international school. That's a Korean school.
The pay is somewhere in the neighborhood of $25-33,000 a year.
http://dis.or.kr/index.php. This site should answer some questions. |

How do you apply to this school?
I'm pretty in line with the qualifications they are looking for; originally was planning on SMOE but always interested in the idea of international schools...
thanks.
