|
|
My school is in the process of buying my plane ticket to Korea and I would like to request an aisle seat. Would it be considered rude to make this request as they are buying the ticket? On my first flight over, I was crammed into a middle seat and it was miserable. |

It's a little irrelevant. Ask for the record locator once they've booked your flight, then call the airline and choose your seat yourself. |

Just show up to the airport early and ask for an aisle seat. |

just call airline with your confirmation number and ask them for the desired seat and be sure to mention that you're tall-ish or that you have an ankle problem/leg-problem... they'll automatically allocate you a seat to your liking.
good-luck. |

I don't think it would be a big deal to ask your school. The keyword is 'ask', not insist. The worse they can say is no.
Word of warning about changing flight reservations; my recruiter bought my airfare on Korea Air and they wouldn't let me change anything. They stated that only the purchaser of the ticket would be able to make any changes. Before anyone jumps all over me, that is just my experience. |

They just pay your airfare. It's the airline CS number that you must call to make a seat or meal request. |

I would say that is the best advice. I would also show up early and see if it is possible to get the aisle seat. |

use the online check in when the time comes 24hrs before the flight leaves - many of the big carriers use this system - there you can specify your seat
on the ticket just mark the preference for an aisle seat, i wouldn't think it rude if it's only a preference
it's long haul i presume totally understandable !

To clarify my other post, when I used Korea Air I did call their customer service number to make changes to my flight. It was at this juncture that I was told that the credit card holder was the only person that could make any changes.
If it is that important to have an aisle seat (and on a 14 hour flight I would agree) I believe you are better making this request before the ticket is purchased. |

I'm almost always asked when I check in whether I want an aisle or window seat. So wait until check in and if they don't ask then tell them you want an aisle seat. |

Your school buys the ticket.
Once you get the ticket YOU ask for that specific seat from the airline.
Why would you feel the need to ask your school to do this? |

Calm down. I am perfectly willing to request the seat myself. I thought the person booking and paying for my ticket might have to do that, thus the question. |

You need to call the airline and give them your record locator, then attach your FF# to the ticket. Then they can give you an upgrade. |

I booked my flight yesterday, and I'm stuck with a middle seat. Nothing else was left. My flight is direct from Chicago to Seoul on May 28th. I couldn't have booked any sooner. I just got my visa number this week. Quelle misery! |
