The thread title says it all: I need to get my jeans tailored in the waist and hip. I tried a couple tailors in Itaewon, and none of them could help me (one even laughed when I asked). Does anyone know of a tailor that will do jeans? English ability is preferable of course but by no means necessary.

there are a few tailors that are located in the basement of some of the buildings just a few mins walk from the station. i've had them tailor a bunch of shirts, pants, even do weird shit like patch up the pockets on my hoodies and put zippers on the inside. yeah, they'll do it if you bring enough shit to make it their worthwhile. just a pair of jeans doesn't provide more than just a few bucks profit for them. good luck though...

i don't remember the name of the tailor, but i've had a few different ones do different things.

The seamstress/alterations place in Lotte Myeongdong or Hyundai Apgujeung will do them but be prepared to pay.

Do you mean you just want them taken in? Any clothing alterations store (drycleaners included) will do that. Many of them do a very good job too. If you are looking for a higher skill level, look for a sign that says 수선전문. Those kind of alterations won't cost you more than manwon in most repair shops, and will be done in a day.

I see high school students going in all the time to the repair shop near my house, often to get their jeans made super-skinny, following the latest flower boy style or whatever.

You should try your jeans on in the shop so they can pin them up and give you exactly the fit you want. Don't leave unless they have done this for you - that would be a sign of being a sloppy tailor/seamstress. Also eliminates any language barrier.

Does anybody know which tailors work with selvage denim? I need to taper one of my APCs without screwing up the selvage line.
