Have been offered two jobs: One in Yeosu (in the south) called Jung Chul Inter Lab Inc. (Jung Jin) and

EBY in Ulsan.

wondering if anyone has heard of them or if they are owned by one of the bad franchises.

Also, anyone ever been to Yeosu? is it an industrial pit or low-key, rural town?

I have heard of Jung Jin in Yeosu. That is only because I received a contract/offer from them. I'm curious, what story did they tell you?

after receiving job offer, I sent off a list of questions about the teaching conditions and contract and am still waiting for a reply. My main question was why they needed someone right now. We'll see what happens.

Yeosu is on the "low-key rural town" end of things. It's a population of about 300 thousand, but that population is _really_ spread out. I live more on the outskirts of Yeosu, so I'm literally surrounded by sea and mountains, which is great!

There's one major department store (E-Mart), and only a few western chain fast food places, which might be a negative point for some people. The foreigner community is about 1000 people, from what I'm told, but depending on where you're located, it is possible to go awhile without seeing another foreigner.

The people are really friendly, the taxi drivers are honest (I've actually had them charge less than the metre because they got lost), you can breathe the air and the scenery is fantastic. If you can stand a little isolation, and you don't mind things being a little on the quiet side, I'd definitely recommend it.

I thought Yeosu was pretty much a sh it hole. I live in Naju and it sucks. Go to Ulsan or somewhere where there is life. If you like to be alone alot go to a small place but, generally the foreigners are a bit nicer in small places and do stuff throughout Korea.

The hills are good but i'd like to be able to speak more English around this place rather than random old people shout at me for crossing a street.

The only thing that I know is that interlab is a chain that produces their own curriculum and it sucks. They emphasize Korean-English translation. The students rarely can utilize the vocabulary and have poor reading level. I have taught this curriculum for only a short while but the students that have studied at the school for 2 years are still at low level of ability compared to all of the other schools I have taught at.
Ulsan is more of a city and has a good community of people. Major drawback is the pollution and smell from the factories. Yeosu is a hick town and you will be alone alot. Depends on what you like.
