| Don't work for Wonderland. Probably the only thing that everyone on this board agrees about. |

| Is this a consensus about the whole franchise? I find it difficult to believe that they are all bad, surely it varies ... Sangin/Daegu branch in particular anybody...? |

I talked to a teacher who worked there a few months back.
Basically:
Was fired in the 11 month. Yes, in the 11th month. I don't know if the teacher pursued this firing with the labor board.
Was still owed about 4 million won.
I think I recall the teacher saying the vacation days were never received. I'm not sure about this one.
The teacher also stated other issues, I just don't remember them all. |

check out EFL-Law.com
Despite people badmouthing the site its pretty useful. It explains some of the scams that schools (especially hagwons) try to pull and you may be able to avoid some of them. Being fired in the 11th month is pretty much the most rotten one, they fire you so they dont have to pay your return airfare or severance pay, saving them a few million won.
Just make sure to review the contract or better yet post it here or forward to a friend who can look it over for you. Contracts in Korea have been described as loose agreements rather than binding legal documents, but its best to have everything in writing the way you want it before you fly out to work for a hagwon.
If you are a new teacher your 2.0-2.5 salary will almost never be above 2.0.
Hagwons are a business, not a school. |

From personal experience, I wouldn't recommend a teaching job at Wonderland to anybody. I worked for the Pohang branch, and they mentally and emotionally harrassed all of us teachers, made us work longer hours without pay, took extra money from our paychecks, and withheld money from certain employees.
When I was looking for a job, I too didn't find anything specifically bad about my branch, so I thought it would be fine. After working in the hell that it was, I can honestly say with good confidence that I would not recommend working at ANY Wonderland branch to anyone.
There are much better jobs out there that pay better and treat their teachers like human beings. I would err on the side of caution and find a different job.
Good luck to you! |

So you're basing your recommendation to not work at an entire chain of of almost 100 schools based on your experience at ONE of them? Good logic. |
